Roger Pearl, Chairman of BADA, and Steve Harris, Chairman of BFA, have held meetings with the organisers of the several shows proposed for the London area, during Autumn 2002. The conclusions from these meetings are as follows: There are two shows which dominate - and the recommendation from both BADA and BFA is that potential exhibitors should choose either one or both of these to support their marketing objectives. The shows are: The Hi-fi Show & AV Expo 2002 This show is organised and run by IPC Media and is planned to take place from September 13-15th at the Le Meridian and The Renaissance Hotels, Heathrow, London. This is a hotel show offering large rooms and traditional bedrooms. IPC is planning to extend its promotion this year with assistance from other IPC titles such as Loaded and Uncut (along with the traditional Hi-fi News). This should bring new potential customers with an interest in music but little exposure to quality hi-fi. BADA and BFA will be taking an active part in the steering committee being set up by the organisers of this show to help focus the planning on areas beneficial to the specialist hi-fi and home entertainment sectors. BADA, in conjunction with the BFA, will have space at this show to give consumer advice and to demonstrate systems at widely different price points. Stuff Live Stuff Live is organised and run by Haymarket Exhibitions and is planned to take place from October 3rd-6th at Earls Court, London. Stuff Magazine, What Hi-fi Sound and Vision? and Future Publishing’s games titles will give support to this show, which is targeted primarily at the consumer electronics enthusiast. At the suggestion of BADA and BFA, Stuff Live has announced a sliding scale of custom-built demo rooms suitable for smaller brands. BADA and BFA are in negotiations with Haymarket Exhibitions to put together a similar ‘retail experience’ to the one planned for the Hi-Fi Show & AV Expo 2002. More details will be released as they become available. These two shows offer different opportunities for promotion and communication and companies must make their own decisions whether to exhibit at either or both. BADA and BFA jointly feel that these shows fulfil the industry need for London shows in 2002 and are timed well for the season. As such, they both receive recommendation from both bodies.
