It has now been confirmed by the Department of Trade and Industry that, for the second year in succession, some 21 companies which applied for CES 2001 under the BFA sponsorship have been approved. These companies have all qualified for reimbursement of 60% of their exhibiting expenses at the Las Vegas 2001 International CES - to a maximum of £2,300. Although not all companies will necessarily receive the maximum, the potential savings to the UK audio industry - thanks to the BFA - is nearly £50,000. The BFA had made strenuous representations to the DTI on behalf of all UK audio exporters - not just BFA members - about financial support for the forthcoming CES at Las Vegas, which takes place from 6th- 9th January 2001. After much discussion, the DTI confirmed that there would be financial support available to UK audio exporters for an exhibition stand or exhibition room. The BFA is also "In Programme" to sponsor exhibitions with DTI support at Frankfurt and is working on further overseas events in Moscow and Shanghai, as well and CES, Las Vegas January 2002. This latest success by the BFA underlines the Federation’s pledge to retain its position as an impartial central identifying authority around which the industry can rally. |
