Putting the recent BAFTA and Oscars Awards firmly in the shadows - The British Federation of Audio has announced the three winners chosen at the Bristol-staged Sound and Vision exhibition, selected in recognition of their respective efforts made at the Show.

The BFA judged three Awards - And the Winners Were.......

  • Best Two-Channel Demonstration: Neat Acoustics
  • Best Multi-Channel Demonstration: Meridian Audio
  • Best Looking Exhibit: (Shared Between) Focal and Naim Audio

BFA Members voted on the parameters they thought were most important in a demonstration - in order of importance:

  • Atmosphere in room
  • Sound quality sitting
  • Image
  • Graphics of explanation
  • Look of room

Steve Harris, the BFA's Chairman, who led the Awards team made the following personal notes regarding the winning rooms:

Neat Acoustics
"Simple room with pleasant atmosphere with graphics. Good sound, interesting music played at sensible levels."

Meridian Audio
"The clip from Hero was excellent, it had scale without going over the top and excellent detail. What's more it could keep the detail during the loud and not so loud sections of the clip."

Focal
"The IKEA Room" – "Wooden floor, great atmosphere, good lighting and putting a home theatre system in context."

Naim Audio
"The Chill Out Room" "Totally different, a place to chat and a room designed to drive traffic to the other three Naim rooms on the fifth floor."

"Overall," Steve Harris noted "it was a very interesting and enjoyable experience. It was good to see that so many companies had made a serious effort to make their rooms both effective and inviting to the public."

The BFA is planning on recognising the effort put in by exhibitors at other shows by awarding plaques and a bottle of champagne to the winners selected.
